This is really helpful.  Thankyou very much!  This almost
makes me want to dig out my old DC240 camera which uses
a proprietary protocol, and write a FreeBSD driver, just
for the fun of it.  Back in the old days (before ports/
graphics/gphoto) I wrote a userland tool that used ugen(4),
but it was slow like a snail.
