Yes, the goal is to be as close as possible to Linux original code, to
ease future updates.

I don't remember removing explicitely PowerPC bits from the Radeon
driver. If I did so, that's a mistake.
I still have your patch to make it build on PowerPC and I think I never
answered you... I'm sorry :-/ Were you able to test it?
