Guess I should have listed models as well as chip-set. Mine is the 4670HD

Unfortunately, those GPUs did not align with board models. The RV730 was
used in:
4330/4350/4550/4650/4670/5145/5165/530v/545v/560v/565v

So the 4850 used a slightly newer GPU that is not programming identical to
the 730 and the 40xx-42xx used an older GPU from the RS series. But if NEW
XORG works on the 4850HD, which is at least an RV7xx, I strongly suspect
that it will work with my card I have. Guess I'll take a shot at it and see
what happens. I'll be installing it from home, so I won't know if it
actually works until I get into the office. (It's a holiday in the US.)
