(will be available until kib's next patch)

Note: For the bool/true/false types changed since all.12.4.patch, I
have to merge back head changeset r228440 through r228444 by mdf,
which are marked as "MFC after 2 weeks" - THESE CHANGES MAY CONFLICT
WITH OTHER PARTS OF KERNEL.
