Compiz Fusion brings all Gnome with itself

well, that's what i did at first. i tried installing it from ports, but that
needed gio-fam-backend which in turn needed glib-2.16.3. i didn't want to
upgrade my glib (since i didn't know how long that takes and if i should
upgrade all that depends on it or not). so i went with packages, but that
brings all sort of extra crap with it which i don't want (i had explained
all these in my first post).
is there anyway to remove the gnome ports and disable gconfd and
gnome-pty-helper from running when i startx?

thanks :)
