Hi folks,

  sorry, I made a mistake: I didn't know that
http://bugs.freedesktop.org _is_ the official Xorg PR database (it
looked to me more like some linux usergroup).

I spent the last night restoring my old installation from tape,
and then working myself line by line thru the Xserver sourcecode,
so to understand what exactly is happening there.

I will talk to Tilman Sauerbeck about that. 

In short, the reason why this did work with Xorg 6.9 seems to be
that they didnt test for the size. So they didnt recognize the
problem (if it is one, at all), continued to read the Bios, and
had success.
