xrandr has now superseded mergedfb. You should, theoretically, just be able
to enable and setup your second monitor with the xrandr command. I suggest
taking a look at the xrandr man page. It can be a bit tricky to understand,
though.
Unfortunately, xrandr is some what broken for me with the radeon driver in the
ports tree, as I mentioned in a previous e-mail just a few days ago. It was
convinced I had a TV hooked up to S-Video (which I didn't) and refused to
enable my second monitor. As soon as I upgpraded to the driver currently in
freedesktop git, it worked fine.
