Infinite loop on startup with Xorg 7.2 radeon driver with X300SE

I have a
(--) PCI: (1:0:1) ATI Technologies Inc RV370 [Radeon
X300SE] rev 0, Mem @ 0xefdf0000/16

on a dual core:

CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz (2793.09-MHz
K8-class CPU)

FreeBSD speedy.fcox.org 6.2-RELEASE-p3 FreeBSD
6.2-RELEASE-p3 #12: Wed Apr 25 00:40:20 PDT 2007
root at speedy.fcox.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/SPEEDY
amd64

When I tried using the radeon driver after upgrading
to 7.2, I got an infinite loop using 103% of a CPU,
which was not kill -9'able. I couldn't switch
consoles. I had to log in through ssh and attempt to
killl it. Eventually I rebooted it, and change the
driver to vesa.

I am attaching my xorg.conf.

Any tips on capturing where it's looping?

BTW, should I be able to run the vesa driver in
1680x1050 mode?
