problem with xmodmap

The mapping might get reset, especially if you're using KDE's frontend for xkb 
(Regional & Accessibility/Keyboard Layouts). You could try putting the 
xmodmap command into a shell script, chmod +x that script and put it into 
~/.kde/Autostart, or try unchecking "Enable keyboard layouts" in the 
mentioned above kcontrol module.
