Thanks to you & the both of them.  I look forward to rebuilding the system again after another cvsup, and getting back to trying to solve my 3d puzzle -- i.e. how to convince the "agp" driver to find my ATI IGP9100 RS300 bridge and load the gart & r200 code so that the x11 radeon driver can use them.
