>Description:
Using a PCMCIA 3com Etherlink III 3C589D, the system will not gain connectivity to the internet until I type in dhclient manually or use ifconfig to set a static IP. When the machine is booting, it shows it getting an IP address. Additionally, ifconfig -a and netstat -nr produce identical results before and after i manually run dhclient or ifconfig to grab a "new" IP. executing ifconfig (with or without arguments) after I'm connected causes connectivity to be lost, but typing dhclient or setting a new IP with ifconfig causes the issue to be "corrected" once again.
I was able to workaround typing this in manually by adding "dhclient ep0" to my /etc/rc.local file, but this isn't really an acceptable long term solution.
