Hello Everyone,
I am the maintainer of devel/libvirt, which is a toolkit to interact with
virtualization capabilities. Along with this, I maintain some other ports
that depend on libvirt that are of a graphical nature.
As it stands now, this port is incomplete in that the network layer of it is
disabled. Having the network piece missing is a major deficiency of the port.
Libvirt is under very active development cycle, and there is at least one very
active developer that uses FreeBSD.
I had written this up sometime ago, now, and was hoping that someone here
would have the ability to update the code:
http://www.freebsd.org/news/status/report-2011-04-2011-06.html#libvirt-networking-port
The advantages of getting a fully working libvirt port in FreeBSD would be
very helpful insofar as monitoring and utilities for the virtualization community.
If I had the coding experience, I would most definitely step up.
I am also going to be reaching out to the development community for libvirt
and virt-manager, to inquire if there are any plans on supporting BHyVe.
Many thanks, and hope someone out there can help! :)
