 I have discarded the MyBooks and am now using Canyon CNR-HDD35SA2 external 
 disk enclosures with Seagate ST3500320AS HDDs. They have been working fine 
 for two weeks. So it looks like WD MyBook should be avoided by FreeBSD users.
