FREEBSD-STABLE 6.0: TIMEOUT errors, SHORT_XFER errors and SET_ADDR_FAILEd errors. dmesg.txt attached

I am somewhat new to FreeBSD and it's kernel, so unfortunately I'm not
familiar with configuring it, etc. I come from a Linux background, and
I'm trying to switch to FreeBSD for it's (perceived) stability.

Essentially what is happening is that my USB devices are being detected,
but then an error occurs, and the kernel disables both devices. The
problematic kernel output lines are:

uhub0: port 1, set config at addr 2 failed
uhub0: device problem (SHORT_XFER), disabling port 1
uhub0: device problem (SHORT_XFER), disabling port 2

Running usbdevs reveals that the devices have been
"unplugged/disconnected" by FreeBSD (I think it's turning the power off
to them and pretending they don't exist). There is no device nodes for
the devices listed below in my device layout.

Turning off ACPI, devices connected directly to the Root HUB (i.e. the
motherboard) become visible with device nodes under /dev. Running
dhclient against my usb modem device (cdce0) gives the following error:

cdce0: usb timeout on tx: TIMEOUT

And my usb hub gives "SET_ADDR_FAILED errors after having booted up for
a little while.

I've downloaded the kernel source and tried to have a look myself, but
I'm not a systems programmer, so I would have no idea where to start
making changes or even attach a debugger. I've attached a copy of my
dmesg output, but with

My device layout is as follows

USB Root Hub 0
---> Motorola Surfboard SB5100 modem (this appears to be detected
properly)
---> Generic USB Hub
--------> Logitech USB PS/2 Mouse
--------> Brother HL2040 Printer

USB Root Hub 1
 (both ports have no devices connected).

I can confirm that all the devices work correctly under both Windows
2000 and Ubuntu Linux (breezy badger) with a custom compiled 2.6.10
kernel (this is to prevent Linux crashing/segfaulting the USB stack
randomly, a bug I don't know how to trace or fix. There might be an IRQ
conflict).

I think it might be related to having ehci compiled into the kernel (it
would be nice to have it as a module, so I can remove it).

Can anyone recommend what I can start doing to solve this issue? I might
have faulty hardware (not suprisingly), as Linux's usb stack crashes if
I use stock kernels. (Although, Linux uses a different USB stack
implementation).

Thanks
Chris
