 I can confirm this for my Kingston Elite.
 dd if=/dev/da0 of=/dev/null bs=100k count=1 does the trick of making
 da0s1 known for me.
 
 It seems as though the geom auto detection doesn't run anymore.
 It stil worked a few weeks ago.
