I actually attempted this configuration, and it worked fine for me, with
one difference: I had to leave moused_enabled="YES" in rc.conf.

FWIW, this is the configuration I had before, which also worked
(although things didn't work as nicely as with the current one):

In xorg.conf:

     Section "ServerLayout"
         Identifier     "X.org Configured"
         Screen      0  "Screen0" 0 0
         InputDevice    "Mouse0" "CorePointer"
         InputDevice    "Keyboard0" "CoreKeyboard"
         Option  "AutoAddDevices" "Off"
     EndSection

     [...]

     Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier  "Mouse0"
        Driver      "mouse"
        Option      "Protocol" "auto"
        Option      "Device" "/dev/sysmouse"
        Option      "ZAxisMapping" "4 5 6 7"
     EndSection

In rc.conf:

     moused_enable="YES"

in loader.conf:

     hw.psm.synaptics_support="1"
