problems with 8.1-PRERELEASE

I saw this for the first tiem yesterday evening actually - failed
a '-j' buildkernel for the fgirst time in years. A subsequent
single threaded 'buildworld' + 'buildketnel' worked fine. The
machine is a dual core Phenom running 8.1/amd64
