I'll try to reproduce this locally.  There have been sporadic reports of
the "fails comparison" problem, but none as fatal as this.  Is it 
possible to compile your kernel with CAMDEBUG and
CAM_DEBUG_FLAGS=CAM_DEBUG_INFO?
