CD drives don't work

Hello,

I have problems with my s-ata cd drive.
Neither in AHCI nor in IDE mode I'm able to burn cd's, most times I
can't even read a cd. Also booting with a CD inserted takes forever.
All I get is:

acd0: TIMEOUT - READ_BIG retrying (1 retry left)
acd0: TIMEOUT - READ_BIG retrying (0 retries left)
acd0: FAILURE - READ_BIG timed out
acd0: TIMEOUT - READ_BIG retrying (1 retry left)

I used to have problems with all kind of s-ata and atapi drives for some
months with 7(-current/-stable).
At least 'burncd fixate' failed on all drives.

Am I the only one unable to use CDs with 7?
What chipset/drive/mode combination is known to work?

Thanks in advance,

-Harry
