Upgrade issues, Install Kernel crashing

Doug,
   I don't have a serial terminal.  And yes I have used safe mode.  It
does the same thing

What system are you trying to install to? Can you try hooking up a
serial
console and booting to it to capture the messages? have you tried Safe
Mode?
