Full ACK - folks, I think it's quite simple:

Tux - Linux Mascot
Beastie - BSD Mascot

Suse Logo, Redhat Logo, Mandrake Logo, NetBSD Logo, FreeBSD Logo, ...

None of the logos needs to feature the respective mascot and
most of the already exisiting logos actually don't.
