KDE apps crashing

Hi everyone, this is my first post, so bare with me please.  I just installed 
freebsd 4.8 RC2 along with KDE 3.1.  But now alot of Kde apps crash when I 
quit them.  Yes, I did try to find it on the net, and I found alot of pages 
stating the problem, but none with a solution that actually worked (tried a 
few things, nothing worked).  I was just wondering if there was a fix for 
this.
