mail without mta

Hi,

although this does not answer your question directly, it might be useful for
you (in case you decide to use sendmail as your mta :-)

I wrote a sendmail howto for FreeBSD workstation installations. It still
needs some minor improvements, but it should be quite usable in its
present state:
