5.3-REL and icp gdt6523rs boot0 problems

hi,

i'm trying to install 5.3-REL on a system with an icp vortex
gdt6523rs raid controller. problem is, i'm getting some kind of a
register dump when booting from the 5.3-REL cd. this happens
very early in the boot process (boot0?), because i can't even see
the daemon splash screen.

- if i pull the controller out of the system, booting works
- if i boot from an old 4.10 cd, booting + installation works
- booting the 5.3 cd on another system works, so the cd is ok
- booting with an 5.2.1 cd doesn't work either, same problem
- updating to the latest icp firmware doesn't help
- it doesn't matter if there are disks connected to the
controller
  or not

i can't post the exact output, because the text is
scrolling to fast...

is there anything i can do to get this beast booting?

any help would be appreciated

regards
toni
