The continued existance on /etc/rc.d/early.sh is a mistake which should
be corrected so adding another version doesn't seem useful.  If you need
to do something early on, you can simply drop a script in /etc/rc.d
similar to the one you propsed except with actual content.  A large part
of the point of the rc system is to allow this sort of thing.
