mysql dependencies, but I have mariadb

Hi all,

I'm increasingly running into trouble building ports because they
depend on the original mysql. I use mariadb and everything I see says
this is preferable to mysql.

Is there a way to tell pkg and the ports to accept mariadb equivalents
of mysql packages?
