hello, i finally got freebsd 10 to install and successfully boot off my hp-aio. the trick was to delete the 'gpt' entry during the partitioning process and replace it with a 'bsd' one. this might be considered politically incorrect, but, i would like to thank the netbsd people for their help in resolving this issue. best, -mayuresh
