No error of that sort here (on FreeBSD 8.3-STABLE/i386 in Hawaii,
USA).

Here source was fetched from ...

  ftp://ftp.cpan.org/pub/CPAN/modules/by-module/Bit/Bit-Vector-7.2.tar.gz


... and port was built without fatal errors (lots of "warning: cast
to pointer from integer of different size" though).
