No -- it's OS independent. You obviously won't get udev timeouts on
FreeBSD, but 'bind_policy soft' is a solution to similar timeouts
you'ld get in FreeBSD. In fact, it's the standard advice on FreeBSD
lists when setting up a box to use LDAP.
