ia64 kernel conf error BRIDGE

While attempting to ecompile the 8.1 ia64 kernel, the following error was 
produced:

/usr/src/sys/amd64/conf/BRIGHTSTAR: unknown option 
"BRIDGE"                                                                   
*** Error code 1    

Is this option no longer supported? Is there an alternative?
