How to mount mfsroot?

How did you create the 'mfsroot' file?

Does   dumpfs /dev/md0     return any valid info?
Do you have any devnodes like          /dev/md0s1    or    /dev/md0s1a       ?

There is not enough information in your original statement to diagnose this.
