You've taken the md5 of the compressed gz file

This refers to the md5 of the uncompressed file

You are getting the right one, simply decompress before checking, i.e.

gunzip 7.1-RELEASE-i386-dvd1.iso.gz
md5 7.1-RELEASE-i386.dvd1.iso
