/var grows, apache open file, which file?

Added /var/run/httpd.pid to newsyslog.conf and restarted apache.

I am also using cronolog.

from httpd.conf:
CustomLog "| /usr/local/sbin/cronolog
/var/log/apache2/%Y/%m/%d/access.log" combined
