Is this what you're after?

$ cat input
col1 col2 col3 col4 col5 col6 col7 col8 col9 col10 col11 col12 col13 col14 col15 col16 ....

cat input | awk -F\  '{for (i=1;i<NF;i+=7) print $i,$(i+1),$(i+2),$(i+3),$(i+4),$(i+5),$(i+6) }'
