I am worried that I installed the 64 bit version of FreeBSD with an amd kernel on an Intel i386 box.

Is there something wrong when I see the following:

[root at web1 /usr/local]# uname -aFreeBSD web1.machine.net 6.2-RELEASE FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE #0: Sun Jan 6 22:37:33 CST 2008 root at web1:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/web1 amd64

[root at web1 /usr/local]# grep -i cpu /var/run/dmesg.bootCPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5345 @ 2.33GHz (2333.43-MHz K8-class CPU)FreeBSD/SMP: Multiprocessor System Detected: 4 CPUs cpu0 (BSP): APIC ID: 0 cpu1 (AP): APIC ID: 1 cpu2 (AP): APIC ID: 2 cpu3 (AP): APIC ID: 3cpu0: <ACPI CPU> on acpi0acpi_throttle0: <ACPI CPU Throttling> on cpu0cpu1: <ACPI CPU> on acpi0acpi_throttle1: <ACPI CPU Throttling> on cpu1cpu2: <ACPI CPU> on acpi0acpi_throttle2: <ACPI CPU Throttling> on cpu2cpu3: <ACPI CPU> on acpi0acpi_throttle3: <ACPI CPU Throttling> on cpu3SMP: AP CPU #1 Launched!SMP: AP CPU #3 Launched!SMP: AP CPU #2 Launched!

When I install new packages from ports, do I install the i386 versions of these packages or the amd versions of these packages?Quite confused and would appreciate any concrete help,

David
