How to downgrade from xorg-7.3 to xorg-7.2 ...

Have you tried the nv(4x) driver? Works fine with my nvidia card,
although I believe it hasn't got some of the advanced features of the
proprietary driver.

It's in ports: x11-drivers/xf86-video-nv, if not installed.
