My experiences are completely opposite. I find UFS stability and
integrity superior to that of ext2/ext3 in cases such as power
failures, and UFS background fsck-ing as a fascinating feature. (After
power failure, UFS usually needs zero repairs thanks to soft updates.)

What other wrong things you experienced? I agree with Manolis that you
simply must have been terribly unlucky.
