If he hadn't read the relevant part of the handbook, he indeed would
have deleted his kernel config file. But since he did read the handbook,
the kernel config file is still placed in /root/kernels/ or some other
part of the file-system which one does not erase so thoughtlessly. So
all he has to do is link his config after the csup :)
