adding a linux boot option

Depends on what went wrong!?!
A very simple solution could be to install a boot manager like 
GAG (http://gag.sourceforge.net/)
At least - since this is a small download and a quick install - I 
would try it, before I did any further reading of fine manuals 
:-)
