Yes, the card works fine - it's only been installed for a short
while. IBM has a bootable CD (forgot if it's Linux or Windows) that
I was able to the original config. from. This will ultimately be a
production server that I aim to have up as close to 24/7 as possible
- and it will be remotely located - so i was searching for something
other than the CD tools in order to check status, etc. with system up.

Here is the dmesg section pertaining to the card:

ips0: <Adaptec ServeRAID Adapter> mem 0xe8000000-0xebffffff,
0xe7fff000-0xe7ffffff irq 18 at device 2.0 on pci8
ips0: [GIANT-LOCKED]

-- snip --

ips0: resetting adapter, this may take up to 5 minutes
ips0: adapter type: ServeRAID 6i (sebring)
ips0: logical drives: 2
ips0: Logical Drive 0: RAID0 sectors: 71096320, state OK
ips0: Logical Drive 1: RAID5 sectors: 142192640, state OK
ipsd0: <Logical Drive> on ips0
ipsd0: Logical Drive (34715MB)
ipsd1: <Logical Drive> on ips0
ipsd1: Logical Drive (69430MB)
