On 5.4, "burncd" doesn't work well with my burner either.  We probably
should file PRs about it, but we can't expect such nasty problems to
get fixed soon.  I've found that the "sysutils/cdrtools" port's
software works better, though it might require a kernel rebuild to
enable the SCSI-ATAPI stuff.
