/etc/profile and PATH

Yeah, "man login.conf", but it's heavy reading which I suspect many
people avoid by over-riding whatever it sets in the startup scripts of
the shells they use.  So man sh, man csh, etc.

You're probably looking for /etc/profile, at least.
