Sound stutters and mouse slows way down

You might be able to fix sound by enlarging the sound subsystem's DMA
buffer. Add 'hint.pcm.0.buffersize="16384"' to /boot/device.hints to
enlarge the buffer from it's default 4096 bytes.

You might be able to make X more responsive by renicing it with a
negative 'nice' value. See renice(8).

Trying another scheduler in the kernel might also make a difference.
