Console and dead keys

Ohoy there,

I'm wondering how to make 'dead keys' work with freebsd console.

The following related (I think) settings are currently used:
rc.conf:
keymap="danish.iso"
font8x16="iso-8x16"

.bash_profile:
bind 'set meta-flag on'
bind 'set output-meta on'
bind 'set convert-meta off'

Any ideas?
