Chapter "19.4.7.1 Saving the Output" describes how to use the script command: 

 # script /var/tmp/mw.out
 Script started, output file is /var/tmp/mw.out   
 # make TARGET
 ... compile, compile, compile ...     
 # exit
 Script done, ...
