How to build FreeBSD entirely from sources?

Ok, I thought that would be the way.  

But what exactly is built by 'make world'?  

I mean, with sysinstall I can install several "distributions" e.g. "compatxx", 
"crypto", "games", XFree86, ...  Will 'make world' rebuild all this?  And 
will it not build more?
