FWIW: I have a FA411 PCMCIA, use ed on FBSD 4.8. Works
great.

dmesg:

ed1 at port 0x300-0x31f irq 11 flags 0x30000 slot 1 on
pccard1
ed1: address xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, type NE2000 (16 bit)
