If you're using X, make sure that TERM is set to 'xterm'
Without X, TERM should be set to 'cons25'
For Emacs syntax highlighting, you need to add
For backspace to work in Emacs, set
(global-set-key "\C-h" 'delete-backward-char)
If you like a colored 'ls', alias ls to 'ls -G':
alias ls='/bin/ls -G'
