Hmmm, as far as I can tell, that pretty much seems to be it. Probably best
for the port 80-challenged to walk out the door to their nearest public
access internet facility and use Mailman's web interface. There you can get
a list of all the lists you're subscribed to and enact global changes on
your subscriptions (viz. options and subscribed address).

It's hard to guess why these things cannot be done via email commands. I've
just had a bit of a rummage around and I haven't been able to find any hint
of commands that might provide similar functionality. Mailman seems to be
quite popular:- one would think these apparent shortcomings might have been
addressed before now? It doesn't appear to be a case of running an old
version - freebsd.org seems to be using a recent/latest version of Mailman.

My apologies to Steven for excessive supposition and sarcasm on my part.
