Using DVD for backups?

I recommend the Sony dru600a.  I use it + it's great. For -R and -RW, use
what Bill said.  For +RW, use burncd:
# burncd -f /dev/acd0 -s max dvdrw file.iso  # to burn
# burncd -F -f /dev/acd0 -s max format       # to erase
